Farewell…

Three years have passed since the idea of a new
community emerged one night amongst a few discouraged Photo.net
members. FotoFora formally launched on April 1, 2023 to some minor
fanfare—and then time and circumstances happened and we arrive at today. The time and place for forum-based image communities
has passed—and will never see a resurgence. The hardware and software
to make them happen is increasing costly & complex. This was a
large initial investment—and many renewals are coming due again. It was
an adventure making this happen—but it is not one that I have the resources
or commitment to pursue going forward. What time I have left in this
world I believe is best spent doing things that make me happy. This domain is now on a new, smaller web
server. My personal interests don’t require heavy iron (and cost) to
accomplish. A site copy was made for archival purposes, and has been
placed in deep storage at Amazon S3. It is not possible to recover any
images, posts, or other content without the site operational again.
That is never going to happen on my watch. To all of you who arrive at this message, my thanks
for being a part of the FotoFora community experiment. I wish each and
every one of you the best with your lives and craft going forward. Pat
